When to reach out
You don't need to be in immediate danger to reach out. Here are some signs that you might benefit from crisis support:
- You're having thoughts of hurting yourself or ending your life
- You feel like there's no way out of your current situation
- You're unable to stop crying or feel completely overwhelmed for an extended period
- You've stopped eating, sleeping, or taking care of basic needs
- You're using substances in ways that feel out of control
- You feel completely disconnected from yourself or reality
- You're carrying pain that feels too heavy to bear alone right now
Reaching out is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength , and it's something you deserve.
Warmlines: when you need to talk but aren't in crisis
Sometimes you don't need a crisis counselor , you just need someone to talk to. Warmlines offer free, confidential peer support for when you're struggling but not in immediate danger. They're staffed by people who've been through their own mental health journeys and understand.
